Valentino has been a knockout this season; with beautiful men's and women's fashion strolling down the catwalk together. The first look captures a lot of what we're seeing in menswear today, like relaxed tailoring, designers trying to push the basics (hello, couture tank top!), and menswear queering. I think Pierpaolo Piccioli was a giant in the path of couture menswear (as opposed to traditional tailoring) and I'm excited to see it explored further. The dress has since become one of my favorites – it's best summed up as beautiful and complex, while the silhouette itself can be very simple. I really hope this gets a gorgeous second place on the pink carpet... I know it's been a long time since the Oscars but this costume is the winner. - José Criales-Unzueta

'Effortless' is a very trendy word, but there really is no other way to describe Julie de Libran's clothes. Worn over a wrap jacket, this black sequined dress has the comfort of pajamas and the sex appeal of barely noticeable lingerie, only achieved through the use of luxurious materials and a sophisticated exposed shoulder. I also can't think of anything more opulent than Maison Margiela's pale yellow silk 'Feather' dress, which is matched with the lining of a gorgeous oversized coat. It's like a little secret, and you get to decide who you let into your hidden plumage. - Laia Garcia-Furtado

Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda in Piazza Duomo, Siracusa, Sicily, July 9, 2022

I feel like all my favorite performances of the couture season were built up to this Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda costume. The veil, the all-black palette, the mesh weave; everything builds up to the ultimate word goth bridal look. But it's the jeweled cross that lies right on top of the chest's heart that's the real star of the show. - Irene Kim

It's not just that I love Steinberg the mannequin, but with this couture range Kim Jones has found the right mix of reverence for Fendi's past and an easy and confident path forward. This dress is so pretty - it might make even the most serious of us consider going braless. -Steff Yotka
